Free Alternative City says

This is a wonderful free walking tour to discover the alternative legacy of Berlin. The subcultures of Berlin are becoming ever-more present and accessible to those who want to experience them but this free tour not only helps you seek out the unusual & unconventional in Berlin, it gives you real insight into the alternative lifestyles and ways of thinking which have become engrained in the city and adds, very importantly, to the makeup of the colourful German capital. The guides are great, very passionate, enthusiastic and genuinely interested in the content covered, the places visited and the history of Berlin subcultures, they know the alternative face of Berlin intimately and take you on a fascinating journey through the city, off the tourist-trodden track, for an exciting and authentic local experience decorated with striking graffiti & street-art, vibrancy and knowledge to give you a new perspective on Berlin. It’s a local tour with a difference, thoroughly enjoyable and interesting and an ideal way to explore and experience parts of Berlin you likely would not find otherwise such as Yaam, an Afro-Caribbean collective ‘beach club’ by the river, the Kreuzberg arts centre and much more. We highly recommend it as a must do if you want to get more from your Berlin experience and see the city from a different angle.

Coming from Alexanderplatz take Karl-Liebknecht-Straße, pass St. Mary’s Church on the left, towards Museum Island. Cross the bridge and continue to the Berliner Dom.
